Lens Mounting

The Forge-SWIR camera is capable of capturing images from visible light to SWIR (400 nm to 1700 nm). The wavelength captured is dependent on the lighting used and the lens. A SWIR lens is required to capture images in the SWIR wavelength. Depending on the lighting of the scene, an additional filter applied to the lens may further narrow the wavelength.

Lenses are not included with cameras. Teledyne FLIR IIS sells a number of lenses compatible with our cameras from our Accessories àLenses page. There is also a Lens Calculator to help choose an appropriate lens.

Correct focus cannot be achieved using a CS-mount lens on a C-mount camera.

Back Flange Distance

The Back Flange Distance (BFD) is offset due to the presence of a 0.5 mm sensor package window. This glass fits between the lens and the sensor image plane and is installed by the sensor manufacturer. This component causes refraction, which requires some offset in flange back distance to correct.
