Overview

SpinnakerRelay is a feature which allows users to forward camera image data from one host (Sender) to another (Receiver) through a RoCE supported network interface.

Sender: Can add a camera as an image data source which can then forward the image to a receiver, while still being able to process the image locally
Receiver: Connects to the Sender and receives Spinnaker Image data

An example use case would be for systems which utilize a PC to specifically run the Spinnaker image acquisition engine and offload the incoming data to another PC for image processing.

Supported Network Adapters

This feature is only available on Spinnaker 4.3.x and newer, on Windows 10 and 11 platforms.

SpinnakerRelay is currently supported on select RoCE adapters:

For LR-Link Mellanox based RoCE adapters, please install the NVidia WinOF-2 Drivers: https://network.nvidia.com/products/adapter-software/ethernet/windows/winof-2/
- Note that installing the Mellanox drivers will overwrite the default 'Microsoft' driver, causing the Microsoft driver to be unusable at the same time.

Setup Instructions

For best results, set up 'Jumbo Packet' on both adapters to the same maximum value. Otherwise, the Jumbo Packet set on the sender must be less than the Jumbo Packet set on the receiving side. These settings can be applied in the Network Adapter Properties in the Windows Control Panel in the Advanced Properties section.
