Reliability (MTBF)

MTBF is Mean Time Between Failures, θ(t). It is the inverse of the failure rate and is measured in hours per failure (simplified to hours). MTBF is usually applied to systems that are repairable after failure.

Note: MTBF is the expected value (mean) of the probability distribution and does not indicate the guaranteed service life of a unit.
